Bilberry Pool was the first pool to which the newly formed Roche Angling Club acquired the fishing rights, in 1964. At that time there were a good head of roach and a few brown trout in residence. The roach were so abundant that they had become stunted but the few trout grew large on these silver fish. In 1968 carp and tench were introduced, this is believed to be the first ever stocking of coarse fish into a water in Cornwall. A picture of the original stocking is on the History page. Today the species that can be caught are Carp to 20lbs, Tench to 5 lbs, Roach, Bream, Perch to 3 lbs, Brown Trout to 6 lbs and Eels.
