Roche Angling Club
Run by Anglers for Anglers
About our Club
All Ages and Abilities Welcome
Roche Angling Club is voluntary led club and is based in Cornwall. It is operated as a traditional members club, run by anglers for anglers. We are aren’t a profit driven commercial fishery. All our funds are from membership fees and is put back into improving our waters. How does a club differ from a syndicate? Quite simply, cost and members have a real voice and the opportunity to become part of a community of anglers.

Roche Angling Club caters for pleasure, specimen and match anglers. The club owns five waters and controls the fishing rights on two in the St. Austell area in Cornwall. Each lake is within thirty minutes from the A30. As a member of Roche Angling Club, you can be assured that your fishing will be top class. Our lakes contain many specimen fish and regular matches are organised on selected waters throughout the year.

There is an active game section that arranges fly fishing competitions on commercial trout fisheries and reservoirs. There is also a sea fishing section which holds several beach competitions and, provided that a enough members make a booking, boat fishing trips can be organised.

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer day permits, membership details can be found on the membership application page.

About the Club Lakes
We are open all year, 7 days a week and we have no closed season. Access is via secure locked gates for which members are given an access code.

LARGE TRESKILLING
‘Big T’ is arguably the jewel in the club’s crown. It’s a 19 Swim 12-acre specimen carp lake set in a SSSI site. It can be a challenging water to fish but for the carp anglers who take the time to learn its secrets, the results are worth waiting for. Apart from the big carp to 36lb, Treskilling is also the Club's premier pike fishery with fish reported well in excess of 30lb. Vehicles can drive around the lake and easily access the swims, no need for a barrow! ‘Little T’ is one of the smallest and arguably the prettiest fishery. It’s a 6 swim, 1.5-acre pleasure lake set in a SSSI site. The banks are heavily wooded, the pool has a wild fishery feel and appearance. Carp are present to late twenties for the specimen hunters along with Pike, Tench, Roach, Rudd, Bream, Eels and Hybrids. Unlike other club lakes the water often has a brownish hue. Don't let this put you off as the water holds specimen Roach and Rudd.

GARYS POOL
GP is a small lake set adjacent to Wheal Rashleigh. It’s an 8 swim 0.5-acre pleasure lake. It was built in mind for junior’s to learn their watercraft before moving on to our main lakes. The lake was funded by the Environment agency and was suitably named after the club’s previous Chairman Gary Strange, who sadly passed away in 2019 after devoting much of his time to the club. This lovely little lake contains many small yet quickly growing Carp, Crucians, Tench, Roach, Rudd, Bream, and Perch.

The depth is approx. 3-6ft all over.
There is a memorial bench on the bank for a spot of lunch for the adults, whilst the kids enjoy drowning maggots.

Bilberry is the ‘Secret Squirrel’ of the club. It’s a 12 swim 4-acre low stock ‘Big Fish’ specimen carp lake. The club has controlled it since 1964 when it held Roach, Rudd and a few wild trout. Carp and Tench were stocked in 1968 and the original carp stock remain. For the hardcore carp anglers out there, seek and you might be rewarded with a ‘Big-un’. There is top-quality Perch to 3lb along with excellent Roach, Rudd, Tench, Bream, and Eels for the pleasure angler. An excellent venue for the purist.
